Woman Sentenced to Life For Murdering Six Newborns and Storing Bodies in Garage Because She Was ‘Too Addicted to Meth’

A Utah mother has been sentenced to at least 30 years in prison after confessing to the murders of her six newborn babies.
Judge Darold McDade made it official Monday, sentencing Megan Huntsman, 40, to a minimum of 30 years in prison before she is eligible for parole.
“I really thought I had seen it all until this case,” the judge said.
Megan Huntsman’s estranged husband, Darren West, discovered the body of an infant in April of 2014 while he was cleaning out the garage. He called police who eventually found six dead and murdered babies in total. A seventh baby was a stillborn, according to investigators.
Huntsman, who murdered the babies between 1996 and 2006, would strangle or suffocate the infants soon after she gave birth. She told prosecutors she was addicted to methamphetamine at the time and did not want to be the children’s caretaker.
“Depression and alcohol took hold of me the same way drugs did,” Huntsman told the court via a statement read aloud.
“I cannot give a reasonable answer why I was capable of such a sick and heinous crime. I held my secret for 18 years.”
DNA testing confirmed that West, who did not even know her wife was pregnant and has not been charged in the case, is indeed the father of all the children.
