Father Handed 13-Year-Old Daughter Over to Cult Leader ‘Who Raped Her For Years’

27-year-old Lindsay Tornambe, who was just 13 years old when her parents handed her over to a cult that sexually abused her for a decade, has now confronted her father in an emotional interview on Dr. Phil.

Victor Barnard, the leader of the River Road Fellowship in Minnesota, selected Tornambe to be one of his 10 ‘Maidens.’ As a ‘Maiden’ Tornambe went on to experience a decade full of sexual abuse at the hands of Barnard.

On Monday, Lindsay confronted her father, Carmen, for the the first time and demanded to know why he had not protected her from Barnard and the cult.

Lindsay, along with 9 other young girls, were ‘spiritually married’ in a special ceremony where veils were placed on their heads, rings were out on their fingers, and salt was put into their mouths.

“My parents witnessed the salt ceremony,” she told Dr Phil. “It was clear to me at that moment that my parents weren’t going to stop it.”

Barnard told Lindsay’s parents at that time that he ‘may or may not’ have sex with their daughter. On Dr. Phil, Carmen insisted that he did not know about the sexual abuse.

“How could you not know?” she said as she fought back tears. “You saw me with a veil over my head with a ring he had given me. He said he may or may not have sex with me. How would you not know? You didn’t do your job as a father. You abandoned me. You left me there for years. You saw me humiliated and kicked out of meetings in front of the whole church. I don’t understand why you keep saying you didn’t know what happened.”

Carmen admits that he feels he out his trust in the wrong man.

“I felt like I was manipulated into his power,” he said. “My perspective was that she was serving the church, I didn’t know all those other things were happening. There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t count the cost of realizing that I take my full accountability and responsibility for what had taken place. I did not give a blessing or an OK.”

Lindsay attempted to leave the cult when she was 15, but her parents berated her with disappointment and Bernard spoke about damnation, so she reluctantly returned. Barnard then left a few years later once again to live with her parents in Pennsylvania.

In 2012, after becoming a nanny, Lindsay called the police on Barnard. Now 53, he is wanted on 59 counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct but has been able to elude authorities thus far.

In a truly amazing story of revenge, an Afghan mother killed 25 Taliban militants and injured 5 more in a seven hour shootout after they murdered her son.

The mother, Reza Gul, watched helplessly as her son was ambushed as he manned a village checkpoint with a small team of police officers. However, she led a counter strike on the attackers, with help from her entire family.

“I couldn’t stop myself and picked up a weapon,” Gul told TOLO News. “I went to the check post and began shooting back.”

Abdul Satar, the son’s father who also assisted during the shootout, added “my young son who was a police officer was killed in front of my eyes. I pulled aside his dead body and started fighting to defend my soil to prove that this is the soil of Malalay, the hero. I was committed to give up my life, but not my son’s check post.”

Seema, Gul’s daughter-in-law, further described the fighting : “The fighting was intensified when we reached the battlefield along with light and heavy weapons. We were committed to fight until the last bullet.”

The combat zone was filled with bodies of dead and injured Taliban members. A spokesman for Afghanistan’s Ministry of Interior said the shootout was symbolic of a public uprising.

The Taliban have escalated attacks across Afghanistan since the withdrawal of the majority of US forces in the country. The shootout between Gul’s family and the Taliban was just one instance of the public being caught up in the middle of the brutal fight.

It has been revealed that President Barack Obama signed a ‘secret’ order allowing US forces to continue to target Taliban fighters even after the military withdrawal. The order also allows for air support in Afghanistan when needed.

Bomb attack on central mosque in kano

Three explosions on Friday rocked the mosque of one of Nigeria's most well-known Islamic leaders, the Emir of Kano, as worshippers gathered for weekly prayers, witnesses told AFP.

"Two bombs exploded, one after the other, in the premises of the Grand Mosque seconds after the prayers had started," Aminu Abdullahi said, adding that a third went off nearby.

The Emir, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, was said to be inside the mosque at the time, with the explosions happening in an outdoor courtyard, and there was no immediate word on casualties.

"These people have bombed the mosque. I am face to face with people screaming," said Chijjani Usman, a local reporter who resides inside the old city where the blast took place, and who had gathered there for prayers himself.

Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) has explained why he is in the 2015 presidential race under the APC platform.

Ferguson protests has jump to London

Ferguson protests against the police shooting of a black teenager have crossed the pond to England, where demonstrators gathered at the U.S. embassy in London.

Hundreds of protesters chanted: "Hands up, don't shoot," in solidarity with Missouri and other American activists protesting the shooting death of 18-year-old Michael Brown by police officer Darren Wilson.

Speakers among the activists, responding to calls to demonstrate by the Stand Up to Racism group and the London Black Revolutionaries, said police violence is as significant a problem in the U.K. as in the U.S., citing the recent deaths of black musician Sean Rigg in police custody, and the shooting death by police of 29-year-old Tottenham man Mark Duggan in 2011.

"We have to stand behind them because you know what happens there will eventually happen here," Duggan's aunt told the crowd.

The London demonstration was the first major protest concerning the Ferguson shooting outside of the U.S.

"We extend our full support to those resisting police brutality in Ferguson and their right to defend themselves, and urge that black people on both sides of the Atlantic unify around and mobilize against the institutional violence that plagues our communities in the U.K. and the U.S.," said a post on the Black Revolutionaries Facebook page.

Father Who Had Two Children With His Own Daughter ‘Starved 15-Month-Old Daughter to Death’

man and his 23-year-old daughter have been arrested outside Atlanta after the man’s infant daughter starved to death and three other children and a disabled adult were found to be severely malnourished, police said Friday.

The 15-month-old infant daughter was brought to the hospital, but was already dead upon arrival. Doctor’s believe the infant was mistreated based on her appearance.

The father, Calvin Mcintosh, was living at a motel where police found the infant’s mother, a 21-year-old woman weighing only 59 pounds, wrapped in blankets on the floor. The woman, identified as Iasia Sweeting, was reported missing in 2010. Police also found three other children, ages 5, 3 and 3, who were severely malnourished. Mcintosh, 44, reportedly ordered his 23-year-old daughter, Najaa Mcintosh to deprive Sweeting and the children of food if they misbehaved.

Mcintosh and his daughter now face an array of charges, including felony and malice murder, cruelty to children, and cruelty to a physically disabled adult. The man was also charged with rape, incest and aggravated sodomy of his daughter.

Sweeting and the three surviving children all required medical attention. Police have placed the three children under state custody while Sweeting remains in the hospital in serious condition.

Pastor Refuses to Bury Elderly Woman Because She Did Not Tithe While in Nursing Home

Olivia Blair was a dedicated member of her church for over fifty years. When she passed away, however, her family was shocked that they would have to look for another church to bury her.

Blair, who was 93-years-old when she died, had not tithed in her last years, according to the pastor, and therefore, despite her past attendance, he would not do the funeral.

Blair’s daughter, Barbara Day, was hurt by the decision of Walter F. Houston, the pastor at Fourth Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, Texas.

“It was like the last insult in the world, there was nothing else that I could do for my mommy but funeralize her in the church that she loved and worshiped all of her life, even as a little girl,” Day said.

She further explained that the reason Houston refused was because her mom “had not paid her dues, and she had not attended the church in recent years.”

Day countered that the dedicated churchgoer had a very good reason for her absence those last years of her life.

“For the last two years, my mother has been in either a nursing home or she’s been in a hospital. And the last few months, she was in a coma!”

She added that she cannot accept the Houston’s decision was based on anything other than greed.

“There’s no explanation for anybody that has been paying dues for a church that long, for him to make me have to roll my mother’s body around town, and somebody finally picks her up and says, ‘Yeah, we’ll do the best we can,’”Day said. “They knew she was ill! They don’t care! All they care about is getting money money money money money!”

Even when Tyrone Jacques of PimpPreacher.com offered to pay for the funeral on the day the church was closed to avoid interfering with church activities, Houston refused telling him, “Membership has its privileges.”

Day, who eventually found a way to bury her mom at another church, said that this is a sign of a church gone wrong.

“What does this have to do with God?”she asked, stressing that a church should not operate based on concerns for the bottom line.

Former president  Obasanjo was speaking at a book launch in honor of the ICPC pioneer chairman, Mustapha Akanbi. Functioning as the chairman of the occasion, Obasanjo said Jonathan should stop encouraging ‘verbal violence which may not physically hurt but has ways of degenerating into physical violence’.

He said the greatest anomaly in GEJ's government was his administration's trying to muzzle all opposition, which is tantamount to destroying the backbone of democracy. 

“Management of democracy without resorting to brute force and dictatorial tendencies must be cultivated. As a leader, you must not deliberately do evil or condone evil. You should know that you will one day give account to God, you may cover up here, but before God, there is no cover up,” he said. 

Speaking on insecurity, Obasanjo said that Boko Haram wasn't out to “frustrate anyone’s political efforts” and that it took ages for Jonathan to fully understand the terrorism menace. 

Speaking on corruption, he said: “when the head is rotten, the whole body is useless.”

Speaking on the current economic travails, he said that the economy would continue to sink, and that Nigerians were being lied to about the state of the economy. He observed that what is being told about the state of Nigeria's economy “is not truly what the economy is”.

“The economy is in doldrums, if not in reverse,” he said.

Man Points Banana at Cop, Gets Arrested

27-year-old Nathen Channing, who is ironically from Fruitsdale, Colorado,  got the fact that police and the country are on edge. In fact, according to to self-described comedian, he was just doing something to make people laugh during tense time.

So, he decided to film a “funny joke” for YouTube that he said was meant to ”lighten the holiday spirit.”

While it is unclear how Channing thought things would go when he decided to point a banana at a cop, the results were not funny at all.

According to the police, they initially thought the jokester had a weapon.

“I observed Nathen reach into the left side of his coat with his right hand and pull out a yellow object, pointing it in the air then in my direction as I approached him,” Deputy Joshua Bunch of the Mesa police wrote in his statement. “Nathen drew the object in the same manner someone would draw a standard handgun from a concealed holster.”

Bunch also said he pointed the object – which turned out to be the banana – directly at an officer.

“Deputy [Donald] Love stated he was in fear for his life at this point, and was in the process of pulling out his hand gun when Nathen yelled ‘It’s a banana!’” Bunch also explained.

To make matters worse, Channing was not even filming when he confronted cops, risking his own life in the process.

“I informed Nathen his reasoning  [about it being an internet joke] did not make [sense] to me since he did not have anything to post on the internet,” Bunch wrote in his report. “Nathen stated he was just completing ‘trial runs’ of the joke.”

Trial run or not, pointing an object at a police officer is not funny as Channing soon realized when he was booked into the county jail on charges of felony menacing.

Drunk Man Shot His Best Friend, Chopped Off His Penis, Fed it To His Dog Over ‘Sexual Touching’

After shooting his best friend, Mario Alberto Lizalde Reyes then chopped off his friend’s penis and fed it to his dog in the north-central Mexican state of Chihuahua.

Reyes, 25, was walking his dog with long time friend Mario Hernandez Banda when Reyes claims Banda tried to touch him in ‘a sexual way.’ An argument then ensued.

“We were both drunk and he tried touching me in a sexual way,” Reyes said in a televised confession.

“After pushing him off, he went to urinate in an alley so I followed him, pulled out my gun and shot him in the head. I then took his knife off him and chopped off his penis as punishment and put it in a bag. But my dog was next to me and was sniffing at it so I decided to give it to him and he ate it.”

Reyes then left his friend in the alley and finished walking his dog. He turned himself into police the next day.

A police spokesman said Reyes “came in covered in cuts and bruises and said he had fought with his stepfather when he told him what he had done. He then admitting killing his best friend and said that although his friend had tried sexually assaulting him, he was still a human being and didn’t deserve to die.”

Reyes now faces life in prison.

‘Sadistic’ Mom ‘Tortured’ 14-Month-Old Son to Get Back At His Father For Dumping Her

26-year-old Jenna Schumacher has been arrested for intentionally injuring her 14-month-old daughter in order to get back at the child’s father for ending their relationship and not helping her take care of the child.

On November 14th, detectives responded to a call from Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin to investigate injuries on the 14-month-old child who had been admitted into the hospital for treatment of an ear injury. After examination, doctors determined that abuse may have been involved.

Sure enough, Schumacher was observed on a hospital in room camera forcing a Q-tip into the child’s ear and then pushing her finger into the child’s ear while waiting for exam results. Officials say the child was pushing back from the force used by the mother and appeared agitated.

Schumacher later confessed to injuring the child, saying she did it to get back at the child’s father.

“This is a sadistic act as far as I’m concerned. It turns my stomach. It sickens me. It makes you shudder to think someone would take a blunt object and shove it into your ear canal. It sends chills up your spine. The child tried to resist, but what’s a 14-month-old going to be able to do? This kid is probably going to grow up now with a hearing defect because of this,”Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke said.

Schumacher is being charged with physical abuse of a child and, if convicted, could face a maximum of six years in prison.

President Jonathan Celebrates His 57th Birthday

Today, family and friends of President Goodluck Jonathan joined him to celebrate his 57th birthday. 

A short Holy Communion service in the Presidential Villa, Abuja was held to mark the president's birthday. 

Joined by his mother, Eunice, and his wife, Patience, later proceeded to cut the birthday cake.

After cutting the cake, the President asked Nigerians to join hands in moving Nigeria forward.

“Though we face challenges, we will surely get over them. Let us live together, work hard together and pray together,” he said.

The ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ star says she has “an even curvier body” now despite losing the 50 pounds she gained while pregnant with her 17-month-old daughter, North, and feels sexier than ever.

The 34-year-old beauty said she has “an even better body after having the baby than I did before. And I’m very confident about that.”

But Kim hasn’t forgotten how difficult her pregnancy was.

She said: “I had a few medical difficulties so I think that might have contributed, or in my mind I’m saying that contributed…maybe it was the 10 boxes of Krispy Kremes I would eat all the time, so I’m going to try to control that.”

Obesity costs world $2 trillion a year

The 2.1 billion overweight and obese people of the world -- nearly one-third of the planet's population -- are costing a whopping $2 trillion annually in health-care costs, lost productivity and expenditures to mitigate its impact, according to a new study.

It's the third worst economic burden the world faces, right after war and smoking, according to the report by McKinsey Global Institute, the research arm of the McKinsey consulting group. It's costing the world 2.8 percent of the global Gross Domestic Product, roughly equivalent to Russia's entire GDP. Obesity is costing the United States $663 billion a year, and the United Kingdom $70 billion, according to the report.

The number of overweight and obese people was up sharply last year over 1980, jumping approximately 2.5 times, according to an earlier study.

Unless the trend is halted half of the adult population will likely be overweight by 2030.

"Obesity is now a critical global issue, requiring a comprehensive intervention strategy rolled out at scale," said Richard Dobbs, lead author of the McKinsey study. "Any single intervention is likely to have only a small impact on its own."

The World Health Organization attributes 2.8 million deaths a year to excess body weight, linking it to type 2 diabetes, cancer and heart disease.

Obasanjo Almost Killed Me As a UNILAG Student - Tunde Bakare

DailyPost says that the activist/founder of the Latter Rain Assembly, pastor Tunde Bakare has accused former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, of killing student unionism in the country at the time he was military head of state in 1978. 

The newspaper says:
According to him (Bakare), Obasanjo, as the then Head of State in 1978, used brute force to repress the students during the ‘Ali Must Go’ protest. Some students were killed in the protest. One of them was Akintunde Ojo.

Delivering a paper titled, “Good Governance: Sustainability of Democracy, the Role of Students in the Forthcoming General Elections”, Bakare said it was unfortunate that students’ unionism had been hijacked by unserious students.

Recalling the history of students’ unionism from the colonial days, he noted that it suffered a fatal blow in 1978. He said, “General Olusegun Obasanjo’s government ordered the brutal suppression of that protest. Live bullets were unleashed on protesting students. As we proceeded outside the University of Lagos main gate, I narrowly escaped death, as Akintunde Ojo, the young man standing just beside me, was gunned down.

Chris Hemsworth has joined the illustrious ranks of celebrity men to hold the title of "Sexiest Man Alive," an annual honor bestowed by People magazine.

As promised, Jimmy Kimmel made the announcement Tuesday night.

Russia loosens gun laws to allow people to carry rifles

The Russian government amended gun laws Monday to allow anyone with the appropriate license to carry a rifle for self-defense.

Previously, Russians were only allowed to carry rifles for hunting, sporting events and firing range training with a license.

This new rule could be cause for concern as Russia's low life expectancy is connected to a high rate of alcoholism. In addition to causing deaths from liver disease and alcohol poisoning, alcoholism is also a contributing factor to an increased number of suicides and deaths from accidents and fights.

Although the new law is intended for self defense, Russian President Vladimir Putin's statement to the United People's Front on Tuesday about new weaponry was a grim portent for how the situation could go badly.

"You can get a lot more done with politeness and a weapon than with politeness alone."

Keeping with the inflammatory language, Putin said at the same event that the U.S. has tried to "subdue" Russia and will fail.

Tracy Morgan coping with serious brain injury

Tracy Morgan, former 30 Rock and Saturday Night Live star, is fighting to overcome a traumatic brain injury he suffered during a crash in New Jersey earlier this year.

Benedict Morelli, Morgan's attorney, told MSNBC.com that the comedian's injuries were much more serious than first reported after the June accident on the New Jersey Turnpike.

"The story with Tracy is at the beginning when reports came out they had a lot of misinformation. The first thing thing that happened is that they reported that he died. Then they reported that he had lost his leg. The truth is that he actually had a very bad traumatic brain injury," the lawyer told MSNBC.

Morelli told MSNBC that Morgan is lucky to be alive and that he would keep fighting and working hard to overcome the brain injury and return to himself.

Morgan, 45, was injured when a Walmart tractor trailer slammed into a limo bus carrying the comedian and several friends after a show in Deleware. The crash killed comedian James "Jimmy Mack" McNair and injured three other passengers.

Morgan is suing Walmart and attorneys for both sides were in court in Trenton on Tuesday to schedule hearing dates in the civil lawsuit.

Tambuwal Backs Out Of Nigeria's Presidential Race

The speaker of the Nigerian House of Assembly, Tambuwal, is rumoured to have dropped out of the race to be Nigeria's next president come 2015. It is believed that he has now settled to contest the Governorship elections in Sokoto State.

More Bombs Will Go Off to Prevent Jonathan From Seeking Re-election

There will allegedly be an increase in bombings across Nigeria to prevent President Goodluck Jonathan from contesting the 2015 presidential elections. 

THERE are indications that the recent declaration of President Goodluck Jonathan for the 2015 presidential election is likely to cause more bombing, so as to scare him from the race.

Nigerian Tribune can authoritatively reveal from an intelligence report made available to the presidency that the recent upsurge in bombing in the country was to cause destabilisation and unsettle the president.

The source disclosed that the report was one of the reasons that had made the president to delay his declaration until last week Tuesday. The intelligence report revealed that the bombings were in an effort to label the president as not being capable to rule the country in 2015.

Solange Knowles and Alan Ferguson marry in New Orleans

Recording artist Solange Knowles married music video director Alan Ferguson at a church in New Orleans Sunday.

Knowles, 28, and Ferguson, 51, announced their engagement last June after about five years of dating.

All of their 50 or so wedding guests -- including the bride's sister Beyonce, her husband Jay Z and their 2-year-old daughter Blue Ivy -- wore white clothing for the occasion, E! Newsreported.

Also taking part in the ceremony was Julez, Solange's 10-year-old son from her previous marriage to Daniel Smith.

The Knowles sisters and Jay Z were the subject of unwanted media attention last May when security camera footage showing Solange physically assaulting Jay Z was posted on TMZ and went viral.

"What's important is that my family and I are all good," Solange later told Lucky magazine. "What we had to say collectively was in the statement that we put out, and we all feel at peace with that."

The joint statement to which she refers stated both Solange and Jay Z "assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred" and that the family had "worked through it" and "moved forward as a united family."

Former Anambra Governor 'Jim Nwobodo' Loses Son to Cancer

Jim Nwobodo, former governor of old Anambra State, on Saturday lost his firstson, Ifeanyi Nwobodo jnr to cancer. 

DAILY INDEPENDENT reports that Nwobodo jnr died at Niger Foundation Hospital, Enugu, after he returned from Huston Texas USA where he had received treatment for cancer.
