A 7.3-magnitude was recorded about 96 miles off the coast of Indonesia on Saturday morning.
The earthquake struck around 10:31 a.m. local time Saturday at a depth of 29.2 miles.
The epicenter was situated 96 miles northwest of Kota Ternate, 96 miles east-northeast of Bitung and 96 miles northwest of Ternate, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
Despite the strength of the temblor, no Pacific Ocean-wide tsunami warning was issued by the National Weather Service Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.
