3-Year-Old Girl Beaten to Death Because She Soiled Her Pants

Jeida Torres, a 3-year-old girl, was pronounced dead in NYC on Saturday night. Kelsey Smith, 20, beat his girlfriend’s daughter to death and assaulted her 5-year-old son. The boy lived, but sustained bruises to his face and arms. Allegedly, Smith beat the girl because she had soiled her pants.

Police were notified by Smith who was posing as a neighbor, who claimed that they heard ghastly screams coming from the house. When police arrived the girl was unconscious and unresponsive. The apartment is part of a homeless shelter.

“He was acting as he was some downstairs neighbor and the kids upstairs were acting up. There was absolutely no emotion. He didn’t sound upset at all,” said a source.

Smith was originally arrested on charges of assault and acting in a manner injurious to a child less than 17-years-old.

Eventually, the mother and grandfather of the children arrived home to find out that their daughter was dead and that their son had been injured.
