Couple Sentenced to 2,000+ Years in Prison for Child Pornography, Sexual Abuse, and Rape of a Child

Patricia Ayers and Matthew Ayers, of Lauderdale County, Alabama, have been sentenced to a combined 2,000+ years in prison after they pleaded guilty to producing child pornography and engaging in sexual acts with a child.
Patricia received a sentence of 1,590 years, while Matthew received 750 years. She pleaded guilty to 53 counts of producing child pornography, while her husband pleaded guilty to 25 counts.
“I have been on the bench since 1998, and this is the worst case I have personally dealt with, including murders.” U.S. District Judge L. Scott Coogler stated. “You robbed this child of her childhood and her soul, and a maximum sentence is the only sentence appropriate.”
In June, the couple pleaded guilty to an estimated 100 counts of producing child pornography. In their plea agreements, they admitted to taking photographs of a child engaged in lewd and illegal positions, and they admitted that they engaged with the child in sexual acts while the other parent took photographs.
In addition to this, they also forwarded the photos to a man in Texas and they even offered to let him take advantage of the child sexually.
Currently, the couple will remain in the custody of Lauderdale County where they face state child pornography, rape, and sexual abuse charges. Their trial is scheduled for Dec. 8.
