The biggest change coming with the newly-announced Android 5,0 Lollipop is called “Material Design.” This overhauls the entire feel of one’s phone, creating a more seamless and updated look, while trying to be unobtrusive to users.
The display features updated notifications and, according to Tomsguide.com, tries “to cut down on the number of swipes needed to access important functions with new on/off toggles for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and location.” The OS will also feature a built-in flashlight app and other popular functions meant to reduce the number of apps one needs.
The most startling claim is that the upgrade to Android 5.0 Lollipop is that it will increase a device’s battery life by as much as 90 minutes. Ars Technica tested their early version of the OS and found that it did increase the battery life on a “beat-up, daily-driver phone” so the results could be even better on a new device.
Finally, Android 5.0 Lollipop boasts better security with new unlock functions and automatic data encryption.
